Empowering Women: Bitnob Sponsors WTM Kaduna South

Discover how Bitnob supported Women Techmakers Kaduna South’s IWD 2025 event celebrating women in tech and inspiring new voices across Africa.

In many parts of Africa, women remain significantly underrepresented in the technology sector. According to UNESCO, only 30% of sub-Saharan Africa’s tech workforce is made up of women. In Nigeria, the gender gap is even more pronounced regarding access to digital skills, leadership opportunities, and representation in emerging tech fields like blockchain and crypto.

At Bitnob, we believe that progress in tech must be inclusive. It’s why we supported Women Techmakers Kaduna South’s International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025 event, an initiative that didn’t just celebrate women, but actively created space for them to explore, learn, and connect with communities in the tech and Bitcoin ecosystem.

A Celebration of Tech, Women and Community

From the very beginning, the event was charged with energy, purpose, and possibility. Led by Sekinah Ibrahim, the WTM Lead for Kaduna South, the event welcomed a vibrant and diverse group of attendees ranging from students and tech enthusiasts to professionals and entrepreneurs from across Kaduna South and beyond.

The opening remarks set the tone for learning, collaboration, and empowerment. Sessions were designed to explore how women are shaping the future of technology, with a special focus on Bitcoin and blockchain technology, a space where Bitnob is actively working to increase accessibility and understanding.

The Bitcoin Track Event

One of the event’s major highlights was the Bitcoin track, where speakers joined virtually to deliver sessions aimed at explaining bitcoin. Visionary women which including Jennifer Ezeobi, a renowned software engineer at Bitnob shared their knowledge, insights, and personal journeys in Bitcoin creating a space where women in Kaduna could imagine themselves building and thriving in this industry.

The reception to the Bitcoin sessions was overwhelmingly positive. It wasn’t just about sharing knowledge, it was about connecting women to real communities, opportunities, and tools they could act on. Many attendees expressed their interest in learning more, getting involved, and finding ways to become part of the global Bitcoin movement, not just for themselves, but for the future of women in tech in Kaduna.

By the end of the event, one thing was clear: this wasn’t just a conference, it was a launchpad. Dozens of women left feeling inspired, informed, and connected to new communities they didn’t even know existed before.

Our Commitment to Redefining Possible

For Bitnob, supporting this event wasn’t just about sponsorship, it was about standing beside the women who are redefining what’s possible in African tech. As a fintech brand dedicated to making financial tools more inclusive and accessible across Africa, we know that technology can only be truly transformative when everyone has a seat at the table.

WTM Kaduna South’s IWD 2025 celebration was a clear example of what happens when women are empowered with knowledge, community, and support. And we’re proud to have been part of that story.
