Building the Future: Bitnob at DevFest Lagos 2025

Bitnob joined DevFest Lagos 2025 as a platinum sponsor, supporting developers with insights, innovation, and community engagement across five impactful days.

Since its inception in 2010, Devfest Lagos has impacted more than 30,000 people directly and indirectly, becoming one of the largest developer gatherings in the Country. This year, its 15th edition, was bigger than ever. It was five days of workshops, talks, and networking held from November 18-22, 2025, at the National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos. It's where developers, designers, product managers, engineers, entrepreneurs, and innovators come together to explore ideas, gain new skills, and build meaningful connections.

For Bitnob, sponsoring DevFest Lagos 2025 as the Platinum Partner was less about visibility but more about investing in the community-building solutions for Africa's biggest challenges. As a fintech company solving one of Africa's most expensive problems - cross-border payments, cutting costs and eliminating delays for millions across the continent. The developers at DevFest Lagos are the same innovators who will build the next generation of financial tools for Africa, and we wanted to be there to support, learn, and contribute.

From inspiring talks to sessions, DevFest Lagos featured powerful keynotes, 20+ workshops, dynamic panel sessions, and covered everything from Mobile, Cloud, Web, AI/ML, to Design and more. The energy was electric and the conversations were meaningful, with the aim of a lasting impact. The Bitnob team came with expertise, energy, and our commitment to the developer community, pushing Africa's tech ecosystem forward.

Community Engagement: Show, Spin and Win

The Bitnob booth was busy all five days. Attendees stopped by for refreshments, spun the wheel to win swags like branded tees, tote bags, journals, pens, and had real conversations with our team about payments, Bitcoin, the Lightning Network, and what it takes to build fintech solutions for Africa.

Our engineers walked developers through technical integrations. Our product and design leaders gave career advice. People networked, asked questions, and left with contacts they could actually follow up with. It was genuine engagement, the kind that happens when you create space for people to connect.

Thought Leadership on Stage

Our team brought expertise across design, product, and technology to the DevFest stage:

On Day 2, Winifred Ekwunife, Senior Product Designer at Bitnob, explored "Is Product Design a Leadership Skill? Transitioning from Individual Contributor to Strategic Design Leader," showing designers how to expand their impact beyond pixels and prototypes.

Day 3 had two of our team, Edward Amewu, Co-Founder/CTO at Bitnob, unpacking "From Idea to MVP – What Founders Get Wrong About Product-Market Fit," drawing from Bitnob's journey to help founders avoid common pitfalls. Later, Emmanuel Aliyu, Software Engineer at Bitnob, demystified "The Lightning Network: Sending payments like sending an email," showcasing how Bitcoin's Lightning Network enables instant, low-cost cross-border payments across Africa.

Day 5: Bernard Parah, CEO and Co-founder at Bitnob, delivered a keynote session, "Code Over Permission," a reminder for African developers to build solutions without waiting for legacy systems to catch up.

The $50 Raffle: Celebrating Community

For the grand finale on Day 5, we wanted to do something special to thank the community for showing up in full force. We organized a raffle draw where five attendees won $50 each, instant, seamless payments powered by Bitnob. Congratulations to the winners!
